Carcels lead Cebu sweep in 6th leg of Shell karting
CEBU - Promising Cebuano go-kart racer Juan Antonio “Tonyo” Carcel ruled the sixth leg of the 2008 Shell Helix National Karting Series in record-breaking fashion the other day at Boomland in Manila.
Tonyo dominated all heats, according to his father Neil.
On top of that, Tonyo recorded the all-time fastest lap with 31.70 seconds, breaking the old mark of 32.2 seconds.
It was actually a 1-2-3 finish for the Cebuanos , with Jette Calderon finishing second and Tonyo’s younger sister Kali winding up third.
With his recent victory, the Grade 7 pupil of Paref-Springdale padded his lead in the overall standings with 424 points.
