CEBU, Philippines —  Despite his continued dismal performance in pre-election surveys, presidential candidate Manila Mayor Isko Moreno vowed to fight until the end as he hit Cebu City’s campaign trail once again on Wednesday, five days before the May 9 elections.

Moreno visited the fire victims in Sitio Viking and Alaska in Barangay Mambaling. He was with his runningmate, Doctor Willie Ong, and four of his senatorial candidates.

He dismissed the latest Pulse Asia survey where he was lagging at fourth place with only four percent rating.

“Aasahan ko ang inyong mga boto, Cebu,” said Moreno in his speech as the crowd chanted his name.

Moreno promised a simple but improved life under his administration where peace of mind abounds.

“Kung yellow ang mananalo, hindi papayag ang pula. Kung ang pula ang mananalo, hindi papayag ang yellow. Kaya kung ako ang pipili-in ninyo, walang away at bibigyan ko pa kayo ng peace of mind,” he said.

Senatorial candidates Carl Balita, Samira Gutoc, Joset Sison, and John Castriciones joined Moreno and Ong in their sortie. They later joined the ISKOncert at the North Reclamation Area in Cebu City with some local entertainers.

Meanwhile, Cebu re-electionist Vice Governor Hilario “Junjun” Davide III is optimistic that the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem will win in the vote-rich Cebu.

Speaking before the third Leni-Kiko rally at the SWU-Phinma last night, Davide urged the crowd to vote for leaders who has the competence, honesty, integrity and leadership.

Senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares thanked the Cebuanos in advance for their support. He said this election is very important to stop corruption.

Robredo did not attend the rally but she was represented by her daughter, Dr. Trisha Robredo. — FPL (FREEMAN)
