CEBU, Philippines — An unmanned armored van parked in a private lot of a bank on General Maxillom Ave. crashed into seven motorbikes early morning yesterday.

Harry Lapurga who drove the vehicle to the bank parking space said that the area is not sloped. The van’s engine was off and the hand break was pulled up.

He revealed that employees nearby told him that there was also another vehicle which was parked in the same area that also slid and crashed.

“Niana man pud to ang mga empleyado didto nga naa sad daw pareho nahitabo nga bisag wala hilabti, mukalit lang og dagan. Wa sad ta kahibaw basin naay dili ingun nato kay wala to’y tawo, wala’y driver sa sulod,” he said.

Lapurga also revealed that while he was driving the van to the bank, he smelled something foul.

He said that the van is the best unit among the vehicles of CTK Armored Van.

Their vehicles undergo weekly maintenance and did not find defects.

SPO1 Clint Almencion, the traffic investigator of Abellana Police Station, said that it was certain that no one was inside the vehicle when the crash happened.

It moved about 3.5 meters from it was parked until it crashed into the motorbikes.

“Kung wala pa to ang mga motor, tingali og ni-crash na ni sa nearby nga establishment tungod kay bug-at baya ni ang armored van. Ang mga motor nga halos di na gyud masakyan,” he said.

No one was injured during the crash.

He added that they will be requesting the management of the private lot to conduct an investigation.

It will be up to the management and the complainants to discuss how to settle the damage. (FREEMAN)
