Political group backs peace summit

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- Political group Kamalayang Pinoy Movement-Katipunan ng Kamalayang Kayumanggi  expressed their all out support to the national peace summit aimed to look into the controversial Bangsamoro Basic Law.

This was announced by Atty. Ernesto Arellano, the group’s national political officer, during the Forum on Constitutional Protectorate Council held at the Sacred Heart Center in Cebu City yesterday.

“KKK should undertake actions to support Constitutional processes,” said Arellano, adding that the move of President Benigno Aquino III to call for a peace summit is provided for under the Constitution.

KPM national president, Henry Tomalabcab, a Cebuano, said they are pushing for another form of revolution for the transformation of institutions of government that have been tainted by graft and corruption.

Arellano and Tomalabcab both shared that there were already at least five revolutions in the country but after all, business as usual, as the rich and powerful took the lead in the government, leaving the poor behind.

While the movement and the party are in the formative stage, Arellano said they want to be identified as “poor group force” to launch comprehensive reforms in the country.

The KPM introduced KKK during its first national convention and general assembly at Saint Theresa’s College, Cebu City last year when Manila City Councilor Joel Par was elected national party president.

Among the resolutions passed by the KKK was the declaration of State of Crisis in Politics in the Philippines.

The forum that was launched yesterday will be replicated in some areas in Luzon and Mindanao.

Par said their party is now in the process of formulating local chapters.

KPM national vice president Noel Gallardo also said they are going to advocate for the protection of the Constitution up to sitio level and to start the change among the poor. (FREEMAN)
