5 CCPO officials given new tasks

CEBU, Philippines - Five officials of the Cebu City Police Office have been reassigned following a minor reshuffling effective this week.

The new assignments, which CCPO director Noli Romana ordered, will serve as the police officers’ training to improve their skills in handling personnel.

Chief Inspector David Señor now heads Theft and Robbery Section after replacing Chief Insp. Noli Cernio, who now heads Guadalupe Police Station. The station’s former chief, Insp. Michael Angelo Beltran, undergoes schooling.

National awardee and former Investigation and Detective Management Branch personnel, Insp. Arieza Otida, is the new chief of Women and Children’s Protection Desk, replacing Insp. Luzviminda Langbid, who now serves as deputy chief of the Police Community Relations Branch.

Otida, together with Homicide Section investigator SPO1 Ruth Violango, were recently awarded by Camp Crame as two of the ten most outstanding policewomen in the country.

Otida has been assigned as a pre-charge evaluation officer in IDMB, whose task involves conducting investigation to establish probable cause on erring policemen facing probe.

Romana tasked Otida to improve existing programs concerning the welfare of women and children.

Langbid replaced Insp. Reslyn Abella, who replaced Otida in IDMB.

With the reshuffling, Romana expects change among CCPO personnel in terms of immediate response to crime incidents and proficiency in handling respective tasks.

As part transforming TRS, Señor instructed all his personnel to be more involved in responding to robbery and burglary incidents.

“We will coordinate with the different police stations as soon as naa’y mahitabo na alarma,” he said.

Señor also directed his men to check on people who just got out of jail after observing that most of robbery suspects are ex-convicts. — (FREEMAN)
