Cop under probe for administrative, criminal charges

CEBU, Philippines - A Cebu City policeman is facing three administrative and two criminal charges that could warrant his dismissal from service.

PO2 Ronelo Manuel was caught in the act of doing a drug session in Punta Princesa on Friday. He is also being investigated for going absent without leave and for robbery.

Chief Insp. Aileen Recla, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch, said another administrative charge will be filed against Manual following his latest arrest.

Manuel is currently under investigation for serious neglect of duty after he went AWOL and for an alleged robbery incident in February.

He was identified by Rochel Cueco as the one of those who robbed her near the Police Regional Office-7 headquarters.

Recla said that results of the investigations into Manuel’s previous administrative charges will be forwarded to the regional level.

Recla said for serious neglect of duty charge, Manuel could face dismissal from service because of the gravity of the offense.

Meanwhile, an alleged drug pusher was arrested by the police Saturday afternoon in Barangay Guadalupe.

Radel Bacalan Chan, 44, was arrested after he allegedly sold shabu to personnel of City Anti-illegal Drug Operations Task Group.

When the transaction was consummated, CAIDSOTG operatives immediately swooped down on Chan and arrested him.

A P200 buy-bust money was recovered along with a big pack of suspected shabu worth around P20,000 and a P1,000 cash believed to be proceeds from his illegal activity.

Senior Inspector Eunil Averngonzado, CAIDSOT chief, said he received calls from Chan’s parents about his illegal activities.

“Daghan na kaayo og mga ginikanan nga nareklamo ani niya kay kuyawan ang mga ginikanan nga ang mga anak nila di na makatiwas og eskwela”,  he said.

Chan is currently detained at the Cebu City Police Office stockade.  (FREEMAN)
