Annabelle to decide this month

CEBU, Philippines - Whether talent manager Annabelle Rama will run in the Congress representing the Cebu City North District will be announced before the month ends.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, leader of Team Rama and cousin of Annabelle, said she will decide within this month if she will pursue a political career.

“I will be discussing further with her. She was telling me that within this month, her decision will be made especially that the filing of candidacy is barely two months away,” the mayor said.

Rama said Annabelle has been showing more interest now in running.

Last Thursday in barangay Lahug was her first time to join Team Rama in the group’s handshaking gigs. Annabelle was with her husband Eddie Gutierrez in meeting and shaking the hands of residents of Lahug.

The mayor said there were also some instances in the past when Annabelle mingled with the public, particularly in the north district. Annabelle, though, has yet to join any nightly assemblies or “pulong-pulong.”

She said earlier that she is taking her time and thinking everything through before she makes a decision. She also said that her decision will depend on the pulse of the public.

Annabelle is the only name so far heard from Team Rama as its possible congressional candidate in the north.

She is likely to face the del Mars who have been reigning the north district for two decades.

In one of the earlier interviews, Annabelle said that many of her friends are encouraging her to run because they already want change in the leadership.

Annabelle already has the blessing of her husband and children and her clan.

Her brother, Basak San Nicolas Captain George Rama, said that she will be joining more activities of Team Rama. George said she will be with her celebrity kids next time.    - THE FREEMAN
