6 Mandaue barangays lose power

-

CEBU, Philippines - Six barangays in Mandaue City lost electricity for an hour due to power shortage shortly after midday yesterday afternoon.

Ethel Natera, spokesperson of the Visayan Electric Company Inc., said the power outage in barangays Cabancalan, Bakilid, Casuntingan, Maguikay, Tabok and Tingub was due to an ongoing maintenance of the power plants of several power suppliers.

Electricity in the six barangays was restored at 2:11 in the afternoon.

In a separate development, the National Electrification Administration has released a total of P8,290,324.27 to the Cebu Electric Cooperative II as subsidy fund for the extension of distribution lines to 29 sitios in Cebu’s fourth district.

The fund was released through the initiative of Fourth District Rep. Benhur Salimbangon. He said CEBECO II is now on the process of implementing the project.Salimbangon said he is sourcing out more funds from NEA and from other government agencies to bring power to remaining areas in the district that still do not have electricity.

One of Salimbangon’s priority projects is to attain total electrification in the fourth district. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
