"Bike for Peace" pedals to Balamban, Toledo City

-

CEBU, Philippines - To continue its goal of spreading peace through cycling, the bikers group Spirit of Paradise held the third “Bike for Peace” in Balamban and Toledo City yesterday with more than twice the number of participants during the second “Bike for Peace” in Danao City last April 26.

Yesterday’s event was participated in by 221 cyclists.

Participating in yesterday’s event were members of Spirit of Paradise, which is composed of personnel of the Central Command; Toledo-Balamban bikers club; Cebu Bikers Club, Cardinal Bikers Club of Cebu City, Trailmaker Bikers Club of Talisay City, and All Terrain Bikers of Guadalupe Club.

Lt. Col. Raymundo Bañares, commander of the 78th Infantry Battalion, also joined in the activity.

Toledo Mayor Arlene Zambo and residents of Toledo city warmly welcomed the bikers.

Deputy Central Commander Jessie Dellosa, founder of the activity, said the “Bike for Peace” was hatched with the intention to spread peace and prosperity throughout the province. He said there can be no development in any area if there is no peace.

Aside from promoting peace, the activity also promotes physical fitness and environmental protection.

The next “Bike from Peace” will be held next month either in Cordova or Lapu-Lapu City.

“Tuloy-tuloy nating gagawin ito until ma-meet natin ang ating objective,” Dellosa said.

The activity is being supported by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and was launched at no less than the Capitol last March. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (THE FREEMAN)
