CEBU, Philippines — For its accomplishment report, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 reported seizing a total of 1,320 grams of illegal drugs worth ?8.9 million and arresting 117 drug suspects from April 21 to 27 in various police operations in Central Visayas.

Regarding illegal gambling operations, 113 suspects were arrested and ?21,230 in bet money seized. As for loose firearms, the police seized 79 firearms, 73 bullets, eight explosives, and arrested 11 suspects.

As for wanted persons, 19 most wanted persons were arrested and 81 other wanted persons apprehended.

"This operational accomplishments is a testament that Police Regional Office-7 will never tire in conducting anti-crime strategies in order to make Central Visayas safe and secure... all accomplishments of the PRO-7cannot be done without the help of the community so let's thank the community of Central Visayas for always supporting the PRO-7,” said PRO-7 spokesman Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare.

Meanwhile, more than one kilogram of shabu was seized by the Lapu-Lapu City police during a buy-bust operation in Zone 7, Barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City, yesterday at 3 p.m.

The operation resulted in the arrest of Juven Ocampo Abasolo, 42, unemployed, of Sitio San Vicente, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, considered a high-value individual.

The 1,025 grams of suspected shabu recovered from the suspect was estimated at worth ?6.9 million.

It was learned that the suspect was subjected to six weeks of surveillance after law enforcement officials received information about the suspect's illegal activities. He can reportedly sell up to three kilos of illegal drugs per month and sources his drugs from prison.

The suspect was imprisoned last December 2023 due to his involvement in illegal drugs but released last February after a plea bargain. — (FREEMAN)
