DSWD awards partners and model employees

Cebu - In observance of its 58th anniversary, the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 yesterday held a brief and simple program to thank partners both from government and non-government organizations as well as awarded some employees who have excelled in their field of work.

With the theme “Mabilis, Mahusay…Nagkakaisang Tunay,” the celebration started with a Holy Mass officiated by Fr. Chris Amores and was followed by a short program where the DSWD’s last 58 years as a welfare agency was presented.

In her welcome message, OIC regional director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre urges DSWD workers to continue improving their services, saying “we are not alone in this endeavor.”

Social Worker and Training Officer Lilibeth A. Ayag was awarded as Best Support Staff- Professional Category for 2008 and Social Welfare Officer IV Shalaine Marie S. Lucero as Best Technical Staff- Professional Category.

Other employees were also awarded for their loyalty for having been with DSWD for 10, 20 and 25 years.

SM City-Cebu also got a “Salamat Po” award for being the Most Supportive Local Partner for 2008.

Macapobre said that their partner sectors, like other agencies and some media friends, could help them in delivering services to the people. “Let us continue our relationship with them,” she added.

Other activities lined up for the week include ballroom dancing, simultaneous sports competitions in badminton, chess, table tennis and revival of old time games like dama and bato-lata. —Harry Vincent H. Cañeda (THE FREEMAN)
