Cessna crashlands in Camotes airstrip

-

Another Cessna plane figured in an accident yesterday noon in San Francisco, Camotes Island.

Air Transportation Office manager Agnes Udang said a Cessna RPC 916 two-seater plane piloted by Capt. Anselmo Pascual crashed on an airstrip in Camotes Island after its nose wheel collapsed after landing.

Udang said the pilot and Indian student pilot Vikas Poonia, escaped the incident unharmed.  The plane took off from the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base at about 10:50 a.m. for training before the incident happened.

“Kaluoy sa Ginoo, wala’y nahitabo sa duha,” Udang said.

Last Monday, another Cessna plane with three persons on board plunged into a fishpond in barangay Uog in Inabanga town, Bohol. The pilot Capt. Takeshi Eshida, his fellow Japanese Fugeo Taguchi and Cebuana Ursula Cabugan suffered only minor injuries when the red RPC 2706 plane of Topflite Airways crashed Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Witnesses said that the engine malfunctioned before the plane started losing altitude.

Last January 24, another four-seater Cessna plane piloted by Capt. Jessup Bajenting crash-landed in the beach resort of businessman Michel Lhuillier in Sogod town, Cebu also because of engine trouble. — Garry B. Lao/BRP
