How to Clean Your Room Fast

Michael was invited over to Jeff’s house to finish a group project that both of them were to present to class the next day. When they arrived, Michael was surprised to see how clean the surroundings were. When they entered Jeff’s room, he was more amazed to see no clutter, unlike his room at home.

“Jeff, you’ve been to my place, right? Our house is very messy. How do you keep things in order around here? Does your mom clean your room every day?” Michael asked. “Oh, no. We each clean our own room here,” Jeff answered.

As they were working on the project, Michael observed how Jeff seemed to know where everything was. He didn’t have to look for anything they needed. He continued to look around and saw that everything had its own place. “Jeff, how do you keep things in their proper place? Do you do it yourself, too?” he asked further.

“Yes, I was trained by my father since I was four years old. There are five steps that we follow around here. We call it the 5S.” Before Michael could ask more questions, Jeff showed him his handwritten reminder on the wall.
