Do-It-Yourself Origami Piggy

-

CEBU, Philippines - Origami is a traditional Japanese folk art of paper folding. This was started in the 17th century AD and became very popular in the mid-1900s.

The goal of origami is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a work of art by just folding the piece of paper. Scissors and glue are a no-no when making origami.

There are origami models that are very simple that even young kids, like you, can make. There are also more different origami models that we will just leave for ate, kuya and other grown ups to make.

Origami is usually done with origami paper, which is also called “kami” (the Japanese word for paper). However, if you do not have origami paper, you can also use any piece of paper that is hard and strong. To make very beautiful designs, it is best to use colored paper.

Our simple origami exercise for today is from www. origami-instructions.com called origami piggy. Enjoy this activity with your friends or even your classmates!

1. Start with a square origami paper, color side down. Make 2 folds on the diagonal axis. Crease well and unfold.

2. Fold the right corner to meet the center.

3. Fold the left corner to meet the center.

4. Bring the top half down to meet the bottom, folding the paper in half.

5. Make a fold at the dash line as shown below.

6. Now fold down the tip of the nose. Fold down the top half of the paper only.

7. Now fold the ears. Fold the paper in towards you at each of the dash lines.

8. Have fun decorating!
