Janine Gutierrez says , showbiz is own choice, Plus: Dingdong and Marian take a rest before movies, Michelle Branch & Jojo concert postponed

Janine Gutierrez, the eldest daughter of estranged showbiz couple Lotlot de Leon and Ramon Christopher, is quite familiar with intrigues in showbiz even if she joined the industry only last year. After all, she had been exposed to the industry because of her parents. She was given the go signal to enter showbiz after finishing her studies. Janine, 22, finished a degree in European Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University. She said her parents never had problems with her entering showbiz and that doing was a decision all her own.

Aside from appearing in Party Pilipinas, Janine has a guest role in My Beloved. She’s also in the cast of the new GMA primetime series “Makapiling Kang Muli” where she plays the younger sister of Richard Gutierrez who is her uncle in real life.

Coming from a family that has made a mark in showbiz, Janine concedes there’s pressure for her to make good. After all, she is a showbiz royalty. Her grandparents on the mother side are Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon while her grandparents on the father’s side are Eddie Gutierrez and Pilita Corrales.

“Marami akong mga kamag-anak na magagaling. I have to make good as well. I am doing my best because I don’t want to put them down,” she said.

When she was younger, she remembered people telling her how much they admire her parents Lotlot and Monching because even if they married at a young age, they managed to keep their family intact. But when her parents separated, Janine felt as if the world caved in. As with any kid whose parents are separated, Janine also wishes for her parents to reconcile. If not, she wishes that each of them will find happiness with their respective partners.

On his last taping day for the TV series “My Beloved,” which will end this Friday, Dingdong Dantes said he will surely miss his girlfriend Marian Rivera. The actor left ahead for New York last June 2 to attend the Independence Celebration while Marian is set to leave on June 7 for Canada where she and Dong will meet. He won’t be seeing his beloved for five days.

Before leaving for Canada, Marian finished taping for “My Beloved” and “Tweets For My Sweet.”

Now that Dong and Marian are finished with their soap, they will be taking a break before starting on new projects. The two hope they would be able to tour around Canada although they wouldn’t say if a surprise visit to Marian’s dad in Spain or a trip to Paris for Dingdong to renew his French visa are on the radar.

After the release of “Kimmy Dora and The Temple of Kiyeme” where he plays the love interest of the character Dora (played by Eugene Domingo who also plays Kimmy), Dingdong will start shooting his new movie with Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin for Star Cinema.

On the other hand, Marian is due to start work for a movie with Coco Martin for Regal Entertainment. This is a straight drama assignment for Marian to be directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes.

We received a message on Monday from the executive producer of Michelle Branch and Jojo concert (set for staging at the Waterfront Hotel on June 8). Here’s the message we received:

“Please be informed that we have been advised by N91 Management that due to the weather conditions and air safety, the Michelle Branch and Jojo concert series (set at Smart Araneta Coliseum and at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu ) needs to be postponed. We are waiting on both party’s next schedule of availability. We will have more news within the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, please help advise all concerned. We will proceed diligently and as necessary as soon as we have the next dates/plans laid out.”

According to Alwyn Ignacio, publicist of Torch Productions and N91 Productions, the tickets that were sold for the June 7 and 8 performances would be honored on the new concert dates.
