Anne Curtis' dream wedding

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Anne Curtis said before that she wanted to get married at the age of 25. She just turned 24 and if she won’t change her mind and everything turns out as she has envisioned it, then we could expect Anne walking down the aisle next year. Yes, even if, as of now, we don’t know of any guy being romantically linked to her.

But a woman is entitled to change her mind and, well, Anne is no exception. She’s now singing a different tune as far as getting married is concerned. She is saying now that she will get married when she’s 28 or 30. She’s thinking of a simple wedding and she’d want to do it outdoors, probably on a beach or on top of a mountain. But she was also told that some of the showbiz weddings that were solemnized on the beach did not last, like that of Christopher de Leon and Nora Aunor.

Anne, nevertheless, said she’d probably settle on a sunset wedding, not a sunrise wedding, since her guests might not be able to wake up early. “Baka walang gumising na guest kung sunrise ang wedding ko,” Anne replied. “Saka baka mapungay pa ang mata ng bride.”

She’s going on a vacation in Europe although she’s trying to convince her friends that they would not include Paris in their itinerary as she’s reserving that for her honeymoon. But her friends said her wedding will not happen yet so they might as well go to Europe for a vacation. “So I told them okay why not go on with the trip as planned. Go na lang ng go,” said Anne who was the Metro Manila Film Festival best actress for her role in “Baler,” a breakout project for her.

According to her, Viva Films is already preparing for her next film project but she still can’t give details about it. They are still planning the script and who’s going to direct it.

The repeat of Gary Valenciano’s anniversary concert titled “Gary V Live @ 25” held at the Araneta Coliseum last Friday was a huge success. The loyal fans of Mr. Pure Energy came to watch the show and didn’t come home disappointed. With a show that lasted more than three hours, and with Gary’s voice in top condition, surely the audience didn’t want to leave not until Gary V did the much-awaited and much-enjoyed medley of Earth, Wind and Fire hit songs.

Many celebrities came to watch the show even if it was already a repeat, having been staged at the Big Dome last November 14 and 15. Among the celebrities who came to watch were Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vina Morales, German Moreno, Charlene Gonzales, Aga Muhlach, Billy Crawford, John Prats, Iya Villania, Fanny Serrano, Nikki Gil, Dr. Vicki Belo among others. Billy and John even came up onstage to dance with Gary V.

Also in the audience were Ms. Boots Anson Roa, Alvin and talent managers Girlie Rodis and Shirley Kuan.

Pops Fernandez made a surprise appearance during the segment where Martin Nievera came up onstage and sang with Gary V. We thought Pops was going to sing but she just enjoyed the moment being serenaded with the song “Be My Lady” by The Concert King and Mr. Pure Energy.

After their rousing number, Gary and Martin announced that they are doing their very first concert together, at the Big Dome, on September 4 and 5. This bit of news drew a wild cheer from the crowd. Expect the Big Dome then to rock and come alive when The Concert King and Mr. Pure Energy come together for what’s going to be a sell-out concert for sure.

Fanny Serrano is getting some flak for joining the Philippine International Cosmetologist Association (PICA) for which he is now the president. The famed hairdresser cum stylist, however, is taking everything in stride. He feels blessed and wouldn’t want to be affected by intrigues. He may not be that visible lately but Fanny said he has been actively involved in activities that have something to do with beauty and wellness.

When Fanny joined PICA, this didn’t sit well with Evelyn Alvaran-Cruz who put up Hair Asia. She called Fanny a traitor, even if they had worked together before in projects for Hair Asia. But Fanny chose to keep quiet and refused to say anything about Evelyn Alvaran Cruz. He just said that intrigues are part and parcel of showbiz. And if some people are saying that PICA is a threat to Hair Asia, he begs to disagree as PICA is just two years old while Hair Asia had been there for quite some time.

“Our goal is to help many beauticians, young and old alike, especially those coming from the small parlors in the provinces,” said Fanny who is considered an icon in the beauty business.

“I have gone through a lot in my career and my only wish is to be able to leave a legacy to fellow hairdressers who want to improve their lot. I know many of them look up to me as a source of inspiration and I can’t let them down,” he said.

On Feb. 26 to 28, Fanny is coming up with “Cosmetologie 2009: Beauty, Wellness & Trends” expo to be held at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, co-organized by PICA and Premiere Events Plus Groups, Inc. Said affair will be participated by top celebrities like Pops Fernandez, Jomari Yllana, Ogie Alcasid, Judy Ann Santos, Cherie Girl, Lorna Tolentino and a lot more.

During the three-day event, there will be a presentation of finalists in various categories, a mini fashion show and musical show, as well as the Touch of Excellence Awards hair and make-up competition. The grand prize winner in each category will win the P50,000 cash prize.
