Give God your worries

LIFE’S ESSENCE - Katherine R. Oyson - The Freeman

The Bible declares that there are lots of tribulations in this world. Hence, we cannot help but worry and have anxiety from time to time.

Theologian Charles Swindol in his book, “Wisdom For The Way” writes, “Let’s get six words clearly fixed in our minds. These six words form the foundation of God’s therapeutic process for all worrywarts: “Worry about nothing. Pray about everything.”

“What qualifies as a worry? Anything that drains your tank of joy – something you cannot change, something you are not responsible for, something you are unable to control, something (or someone)  that frightens and torments you, agitates you, keep you awake when you should be asleep.  All of that now needs to be switched off from your worry list to your prayer list. Give each worry – one by one- to God. ..Tell Him you will no longer keep your anxiety to yourself….

“The more you practice giving your mental burdens to the Lord, the more exciting it gets to see how God will handle the things that are impossible for you to do anything about.”

A friend’s breast cancer spread to her lungs. At first she was depressed on the situation and could not help crying every time her predicament sinks into her mind. But her constant prayer helped her to accept the reality and embrace on what happened to her. She prayed, “Lord, I don’t know why I’m having this kind of illness. However, if it is your will, Thy will be done. Just give me the grace to accept and please don’t let me suffer much.”

Matthew Kelly in his book, “Words From God and Novena To The Father,” confided that when he was downtrodden, one evening while he was praying, the Lord spoke to him. These are the messages that he received and helped him went through the night. “These messages have helped me more steadfast in my faith and trust in the Lord. I am sharing these with you. I hope these will help you with your journey as it did to mine :

“In My Time”

“Strength of character comes from praying.”

“My son don’t be discouraged by illness. Accept it as part of My way. Suffer as My Son Jesus did, acceptingly, and I will raise you up. Illness can be Fruitful.”

“Fight on. The battle is long and hard, but the real, strength comes from your Father in Faith, Hope, and Love. Trust.”

“Fear not my son. I am with you.”

“Day by day, My way is long and hard, and requires perseverance. Pray and  you will have the strength to carry on. Love those around you and your strength will be increased.”

“The love of your Father is greater than any force on earth, so just trust me.”
