Sun Life offers interest-free policy for Yolanda survivors

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Recognizing  how  Filipinos  who suffered the wrath of Typhoon Yolanda need further  assistance  to  recover  from  the devastation, Sun Life of Canada (Philippines)  Inc. is applying a zero-interest rate on all policy advances availed by affected residents from January 6 to March 31, 2014.

The interest-free period is good for one year from the date the advance was processed.

Among  the  areas  covered  are  Region  IV-A (Cardona, Rizal), Region IV-B (Palawan,  Oriental  Mindoro,  and  Occidental  Mindoro),  Region V (Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Camarines Sur), Region VI (Capiz, Aklan, Antique, and  Iloilo),  Region  VII  (Cebu,  Bohol,  Negros Oriental, and Siquijor), Region  VIII  (Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Northern Samar, and Southern Samar),  and Region XIII (Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Sur, and Surigao del Norte).  The  policy  holder’s  address  on  record  shall  be the basis in processing  the  advance;  as such, those who were displaced by the typhoon may still avail of this offer.

This is just one of the many initiatives that Sun Life has offered to those who  were  affected  by  the  strongest  typhoon  to hit land. Earlier, the company  also  extended  the grace period for payments of renewal premiums; and,  through  its  financial  advisors,  took  steps  to get in touch with clients who reside in devastated areas.

“Sun Life wishes to be of help to the Filipinos so that they’ll know that a brighter  life  is  still  in sight. We understand that it may take a while before  they  can recover, and they need all the support they can get,” Sun Life Chief Administration Officer Karenina Casas explained.

Those  who  wish  to  avail  of  the  interest-free  advance simply have to coordinate  with  their  financial  advisors.

Sun  Life Financial is represented in the Philippines by its life insurance arm,  Sun  Life  of  Canada  (Philippines),  Inc. (SLOCPI); its mutual fund manager,  Sun Life Asset Management Company Inc. (SLAMCI); and its pre-need company, Sun Life Financial Plans Inc (SLFPI). (FREEMAN)
