Profood Group opens a gallery in Mandaue

- Ehda Dagooc -

Profood Group recently opened a three-story gallery located at the Profood compound in Maguikay Mandaue City.

Hilton Neil Sy, the gallery’s in-charge, said that the facility is designed to attract both foreign and domestic market, as buying travel souvenir like dried mango, puree, among others is part of every traveler’s requirement.

Sy said the gallery aims to bring in tourists who are curious about the Philippine mango by having exhibits on mango growing and other interesting qualities of the fruit.

It will also teach and educate people about the export business of the Profood International Corporation.

“Our history, what we offer, and an overview of how our products are made. The gallery has a museum, an area for sampling for products, and two small theaters where the comopany shows videos on Profood and other interesting information about the Mango fruit,” Sy said.

According Sy, it is the Group’s thrust to support the tourism sector in Cebu, as the company has started to invest on facilities related to tourism, with the opening of its shopping mall the J Center Mall, and its recent majority acquisition of the Imperial Palace Resort on Mactan Island.

Cebu needs to provide wide array of attraction and destination facilities, the gallery will not just sell the products of Profoods, which brand has been popular over the years in both domestic and international market, but it will also provide vital information and promotion of Mango fruit.

Profood International Corporation, led by Justin Uy is one of the most active Cebuano corporations that put huge investments in real estate, tourism in Cebu.

In an earlier interview with Uy, he said that aside from the Group’s investment in real estate through the opening of the JCenter Mall, and its involvement in an international resort chain, he said the company is also planning to enter into the promising retirement village to attract the huge medical tourists worldwide.

Uy said that while Cebu still has to provide right facilities to attract the multi-million-dollar retiree market in the world, an integrated retirement facility should be built.

Uy who has been successful in processed food exports for years now, has recognized the fertile ground of real estate development, thus he recently established the EverJust Realty Development Corporation.

Starting with its flagship project, the shopping and entertainment mall called “J Center”, along with the integrated facilities that will be built within the three-hectare property along A.S. Fortuna on Mandaue City, Uy said the company is drawing up long plans including the future development of hospital and other projects that geared towards attracting the retirees, and the medical tourists.— (FREEMAN)
