MANILA, Philippines — Two grenades and ammunition were found inside a bag in a garbage pile in Barangay West Crame, San Juan yesterday morning.

City police chief Col. Anthony Gantang said a garbage collector discovered the items at around 7 a.m.

The explosives were found about 300 to 400 meters from the Philippine National Police headquarters at Camp Crame.

Initial investigation showed that the explosive materials had no gunpowder. The grenades were believed to have been used for training, Gantang said.

Police are investigating the incident as a case of improper disposal of explosive materials.
