Cristina Chi

Cristina Chi has been a reporter for Philstar.com since January 2023. She primarily covers education, legislation (mainly the House but sometimes the Senate) and human rights, but she occasionally pens specials on issues above beats, such as children's welfare and mis/disinformation.

Chi is also Philstar.com’s lead reporter in its special coverage of influence operations and, by extension, its fact-checking arm.

In 2023, she became one of the youngest Filipino journalists to be selected as a panelist at the prestigious Jaime V. Ongpin Seminar for her reporting on education developments under Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte and human rights issues during the first year of the Marcos Jr. presidency.

Before reporting for Philstar.com, she was part of the duo that won the International Labor Organization’s Global Media Competition on Labor Migration Reporting (Student Category) in 2022.

Chi graduated with a degree in journalism from the University of the Philippines Diliman in January 2023.
