The machine that wipes away specific memories in our minds from ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.’

CRAZY QUILT - Tanya T. Lara - The Philippine Star

1. The machine that wipes away specific memories in our minds from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

2. Science to discover a way for dogs to live longer, so that we shouldn’t have to outlive each one that we raised from puppy to their senior years. Especially those whose love, trust and loyalty to us are unconditional and complete — which pretty much covers all pet owners’ dogs.

3. No more ugly, boring buildings in Metro Manila.

4. Quality Makati condos that are affordable to people who actually live here and earn in pesos, not just for those who earn dollars or pounds or euros. And certainly not just for expats.

5. Netflix USA, not just Netflix Asia.

6. A sequel to Amelie with the same cast by scriptwriter and director Jean Pierre Jeunet.

7. Even just in my dreams but that it would seem real to me — to be inside Midnight in Paris while Hemingway was writing A Moveable Feast.

8. My fear of heights to be removed....

9. And the courage to paraglide in Oludeniz’s beautiful Butterfly Valley.

10. Learn how to ride a bike.

11. And change a flat tire.

12. The Reproductive Health Bill enforced in all rural areas to help women realize they have a choice.

13. Learn two more languages.

14. For the middle class to catch a break — in taxes and opportunities, and stronger electoral power.

15. An equitable distribution of the preposterous wealth of the top 10 percent in this country.

16. Quit smoking and drinking.

 17. No more insomnia for me.

18. No more TV shows that make us stupider just by watching them.

19. Spanish language back in high school and college curriculum.

20. Ice cream with only a fourth of the calories it has today.

21. Lower airfare and more spacious cabins on airplanes.

22. The time to read all the books I want and watch all the movies and TV shows I’ve missed.

23. Stop blaming and hating myself for other people’s shortcomings.

24. Flights that leave on time every time. Better international and domestic terminals around the country.

25. More parking in Makati and Bonifacio Global City.

26. A well-connected train and bus system like Hong Kong’s.

27. Another Labrador retriever to raise — and the energy to do it — like my super-lovable Freeway who slept on my head from when she was a puppy until she was an adult dog.

28. Aurora Borealis, the Pyramids, Lighthouse of Alexandria, Valley of the Kings.

29. A finished book.

30. More people to be inspired by my travel blog, www.findingmyway.net.
