MANILA, Philippine — Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas erased the bitter taste of their quarterfinals loss the night before, decimating Shabab al Ahli of Dubai, 92-57, in the classification phase of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup at the Chenzhou Sports Complex in Chenzhou, China Friday night.
Kiefer Ravena paced the Filpinos with 20 points to go with his six boards and an assist. Barely felt in the first, the amateur prospect went on a tear in the second and third frames to pave the way for his compatriots.
Chooks also drew big production from diminutive guards Almond Vosotros and LA Revilla, who scattered 14 and 12 points, respectively. Isaiah Austin, for his part, was just two rebounds shy from a double-double.
Fielding only seven players, Shabbir struggled with their scoring. Qais Omar Alshabebi was the lone cager to finish in double-digits with 28 points. The Dubai-based crew accounted for only 32.4 percent from the field, a far cry from Chooks’ 52 percent.
The Philippines takes on Thailand’s Mono Vampire in a battle for the fifth spot this Saturday.
