MACAU — It’s the calm before the storm.

The stars of ONE Championship’s “Kings and Conquerors” gathered one last time at The Venetian hotel here before their anticipated showdown this Saturday.

Leading the bunch was Bibiano Fernandes, the reigning Bantamweight kingpin who will defend his strap against Andrew Leone.

“I’m excited for the fight. I’m going to bring my best to this fight — to bring my best jiu-jitsu,” he said. “My opponent says he can defeat me, well let’s see.”

Sharing the stage were Kairat Akhmetov and Adriano Moraes, who will figure in a flyweight title fight.

“Now that I’m back, I have become a better fighter. I’m ready to showcase my new skills. I believe it’s going to be a good and exciting fight,” said the sidelined Akhmetov, who takes on the interim champ in Moraes.

Also in the presser were the Philippines’ very own Jomary Torres and highly touted Thai fighter Rika Ishige.

Torres, who will be making her debut in the promotion, had little to say in the interview but said that she prefers her fighting to do the talking.

Also seeing action in the August 5 slugfest at the Cotai Arena are Team Lakay’s Joshua Pacio and fellow Baguio City native and the well-rounded Eric Kelly.
