Fil-Am Jawhar Purdy fires 32 as Pateros tops Marikina in FBA

MANILA, Philippines -- Pateros Austen Morris turned back Marikina Wangs, 83-74, to seize solo third place and boost its semifinal stock in the Filsports Basketball Association Second Conference at Marikina Sports Center Saturday night.

Jawhar Purdy went on attack mode and unleashed a game-best 32 points he spiked with nine rebounds to help seal the Associates their fourth victory against five defeats, which was good for solo No. 3.
Pateros, headed by owner cum playing coach Nic Belasco, will thus need to win its last elimination round game to clinch a spot in the semis alongside early entrants Pampanga Foton and Manila National University-MFT.

The Toplanders downed the Malolos Mighty Bulsu, 80-70, while the Bulldogs smashed the Quezon City University of the Philippines Maroons, 61-42, to remain tied at the helm with 7-2 (win-losss) records.
Levi Hernandez unleashed 28 points for Pampanga Foton while Matt Salem paced Manila NU-MFT with 13 points.

Marikina Wangs, Quezon City UP and Malolos Mighty Bulsu fell into a three-way logjam for the fourth and last semis seat with identical 3-6 slates.

Meanwhile, the FBA led by its president and CEO LJ Serrano and Eagle Broadcasting Corporation president Jorge Cabacungan have forged an agreement to air its games on Net 25 and its affiliate international channels.

Commissioner and CFO Vince Hizon was present together with FBA COO Claudia Perrine and EBC COO James Manzanero.

The other networks are Aksyon TV, Aksyon International and Fox Sports International.
