MANILA, Philippines — Four persons were gunned down in separate incidents in Luzon and Negros Occidental in the past two days.

Laborers Robert Piamonte, 28, and Kim Reyes, 35, were riding a motorcycle when unidentified men blocked their path and shot them in the head at around 4:30 p.m. in Barangay San Roque, Esperanza, Masbate on Wednesday.

In Laguna, a man between 30 to 35 years old who has yet to be identified was found dead along the road in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Alaminos at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday.

The body of the victim bore gunshot wounds. His hands and feet were tied while his face was covered with a white shirt.

Police said the victim could have been dumped in the area to mislead investigators.

Jonathan Monares, 49, and his wife were walking in  Barangay VF Gustilo, Cadiz, Negros Occidental when several men approached them. One of the suspects drew his gun and shot Monares.

Police said the fatality was not on the drug watchlist, but was known for creating trouble in his neighborhood whenever he was drunk.

Chief Inspector Rock Desear, Cadiz police chief, said pursuit operations for the gunman and his companions are ongoing.   – Celso Amo, Raymund Catindig, Ed Amoroso, Emmanuel Tupas
