Palace applauds Duterte’s increased trust ratings in SWS poll
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Friday applauded the high satisfaction rating of President Rodrigo Duterte in the latest poll of Social Weather Stations, a year after the chief executive took office.
Ernesto Abella, the presidential spokesperson, said Filipino’s satisfaction for Duterte constantly rose at 78 percent as shown in the second quarter results of the SWS survey.
“The survey result 3 percent higher from March 2017 75 percent is a clear indication of the growing confidence in the chief executive and his performance as the country’s leader,” Abella said in a televised press briefing on Friday.
This indicated a +66 net satisfaction rating ranked by SWS as “very good,” executing a new personal record for the president which is three points higher compared to the +63 net trust rating from March with 75 percent satisfaction rate of Filipinos.
The poll found 78 percent of Filipinos satisfied, 12 percent dissatisfied and 10 percent undecided in Duterte’s performance for the second quarter of 2017.

Net trust ratings are ranked accordingly: +70 as “excellent”, +50 to +69 as “very good”, +30 to +49 as“good”, +10 to +29 as “moderate”, +9 to -9 as “neutral”, -10 to -29 as “poor”, -30 to -49 as “bad”, -50 to -69 as “very bad” and -70 and below as “execrable.”
SWS conducted the survey’s data gathering from June 23 to 26 through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults and used a sampling error margin of ±3 for national percentages, and ±6 for Luzon including Metro Manila, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“The data collection concluded on June 23 to 26, a month after PRRD placed the whole island of Mindanao under martial law and it shows tacit of public support to the president’s action following the rebellion in Marawi,” said Abella.
“This positive acknowledgment of the Filipino people further motivates the administration to work for the restoration of [normalcy] in Marawi and to start its rehabilitation as well as to bring a comfortable life for all Filipinos including Muslim Filipinos,” he added.
Government forces continue to fight the ISIS-inspired Maute terror group which laid siege on the island of Mindanao on May 23.
The gunfight in Marawi City began when military troops attempted to arrest Abu Sayyaf leader Isnilon Hapilon in his hideout in the largely Muslim city.
