Duterte: Agencies must release documents, permits within 30 days

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he will reduce the time it takes for government agencies to provide information and documents to the public to one month from the usual three.
"Noon, 90 days but I reduce it to one month when I saw that everything was going smoothly," Duterte said on Monday during the Outstanding Filipino Awards.
Duterte said that each department will be given one month to complete the requests of the public and provide what they need.
In his State of the Nation Address in July, Duterte expressed concern over the long processing time of permits, licenses, clearance, and documents.
He has previously said that he wants to end long queues at government offices, saying that he sees no reason for the long wait in this age of computers and said processes should take no longer than 90 days.
Duterte said that those who are concerned about corrupt officials in a particular agency may submit their list of required documents to the Executive Secretary's office.
"I will do the overseeing sa papel ninyo," Duterte said.
Duterte also reminded the public to report any corruption to the 8888 hotline.
"I will be harsh," Duterte said.
