BI exec resigns

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has accepted the resignation of Bureau of Immigration (BI) Associate Commissioner Gilbert Repizo, bureau spokesperson Nikki Reyes said.

A source at BI told The STAR Repizo actually submitted his courtesy resignation in January, when former commissioner Siegfred Mison left the bureau, and after then newly appointed Justice Secretary Emmanuel Caparas instructed associate commissioners Repizo and Abdullah Mangotara to submit their courtesy resignation letters.

“They submitted the letters last Jan. 18. The letters were in safekeeping by Secretary Caparas. He did not accept their resignations immediately. He decided to see how the two associate commissioners would perform,” the source said.

But Repizo, the source added, “continued to do bad things” even after Commissioner Ronaldo Geron was appointed to head the BI.
