Skora: Just like second skin

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Skora running shoes are meant for both the serious athlete looking for a shoe that provides the closest experience to running barefoot, and for the novice looking to get reacquainted with the natural running style uninhibited by excess material.

“We’re very happy to make this premium running shoe line available to runners who want an attractive and ultra-comfortable running shoe that can let them connect with the road like never before. Skora Real Running is something that all serious runners should try out if they want to hone their technique and become the best runner they were meant to be, ” said Toby Claudio, president of the Quorum Group, the company behind popular sports chains Toby’s Sports and RUNNR.

With Skora Real Running, it only takes a few strides to understand how the human body was meant to run: light, quick, and adaptive to the changing terrain and surface. Despite its purist form factor, Skora Real Running Shoes conceal a wealth of technology to bring out the real runner within you.

Crafted from premium Pittards leather, the same leather used in high–performance gloves, it’s no wonder that people say Skora shoes “fit like a glove.” Thanks to the amazing natural properties of leather combined with high tech treatments, runners will experience superior fit and responsiveness with permanent water resistance, sweat resistance, and perfect softness in all conditions.

The upper materials also use a no-sew construction technique, using special lamination to bond the materials and overlays. The result is a stronger, more durable upper with fewer seams to let water in, to rub against the skin, and to minimize the chance of blisters.

Skora Real Running soles use stitch-down construction. The bottom edge of the shoe has no visible stitches under the sockliner. Aside from the aesthetic benefit, this enables the Real Runner to run sock-less without fear of blisters.

All Skora shoes are developed with an anatomical last that mirrors the foot’s natural shape. The shoes are engineered around the foot from the inside-out, to create a fit that’s truly glove-like!

A real running shoe should allow your feet to make contact with the ground and let your body make subtle adjustments based on the sensations transmitted through the outsole. Too much cushioning and you lose the valuable “feel” for the road, altering your gait and wasting precious energy. Too little cushioning, on the other hand, and you risk an injury at worst, or you cut short your run at best, to ease the discomfort.

Skora Real Running Shoes are made with an outsole that feels “invisible” as you run, providing the needed grip, cushioning, and performance, with as little interference as possible.

All Skora shoes have a zero-drop design, meaning the thickness or stack-height of the shoe’s platform is the same in the heel and forefoot. As the foot strikes the ground, contact is made in the middle of the foot, not at the heel. Running with a whole-foot gait results in less impact energy and force shock transmitted through the body than compared to the heel strike gait favored by conventional running shoes (built with large amounts of cushioning, support and a thicker heel).

The Skora Form is priced at P7,955, and the Base at P4,730.

Skora is available at all RUNNR stores in Bonifacio High Street, Ayala Center Cebu, TriNoMa, and Alabang Town Center as well as Toby’s Glorietta 2 and Shangri-la Plaza.
