Sharon to KC: ‘Anak, pahingi ng apo!’

Chuck Smith - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – As numerous reports of her daughter’s love life surface, Sharon Cuneta said she’s ready to let daughter KC Concepcion go and settle down.

“Kung meron nga lang boyfriend, pipilitin ko pa yan, ‘Anak, pahingi ng apo. Mag-asawa ka na!’,” the TV5 star jokingly told members of the press in an interview at the set of her musical show “The Mega and the Songwriter” on Thursday, Oct. 30.

“I think now, it’s cool to be lola before you hit 60,” Sharon quipped.

Recently, KC reportedly went out with basketball star Chandler Parsons when his team, the Houston Rockets, was in the Philippines.

In a previous interview, KC already dismissed speculations that there is a blooming romantic relationship between her and Parsons.

Sharon believes her daughter is currently not looking for a relationship.

“She’s just enjoying this time of her life. I think that’s the safest thing to say, and it’s the truest, too,” she said.

“She’s not aiming for a commitment with anybody soon, because I think she has learned,” Sharon explained, adding she does not think KC wants a “complicated set-up in a relationship.” And, in Sharon’s opinion, one of those “complicated set-ups” is a long-distance relationship.

But whatever KC decides to do, the TV5 star said she’ll always give her support.

“Ultimately, you just want your kids to be happy, in the right way,” Sharon said.

The “Madam Chairman” star added she trusts KC’s “experience.”

“Now kasi, she’s old enough. She’s had her share of battles sa mga ganyan, emotional battles. So I trust in her experience,” she said.

Sharon added: “When she needs me, I’m there.”

The Megastar is doing two shows for the Kapatid network: the daily series “Madam Chairman” and the Sunday musical show “The Mega and the Songwriter,” which she is doing with Ogie Alcasid.

While she describes “Madam Chairman” as “her baby,” Sharon said “The Mega and the Songwriter” is a “breath of fresh air.”

“I didn’t realize how much I missed (doing a musical show) until I did it, and with Ogie,” she said.

Asked when her daughter KC will appear on her Sunday show, Sharon said: “Wish ko sana, yung mga nakasama ko sa ABS-CBN, kaya lang hindi pwede... sina Jed Madela, sina Erik Santos, sina KC (Concepcion).”

“Darating naman ang araw, magkikita kami ulit,” she quipped.

“The Mega and the Songwriter” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on TV5.
