MANILA, Philippines — The Japanese government is now accepting applications for its teacher training and Japanese Studies scholarship programs.

The scholarships, offered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), are open to Filipino teachers and undergraduate students.

Filipino teachers may conduct research on school education at Japanese universities under the teacher training category.

Filipino undergraduates, on the other hand, may pursue Japanese Studies in Japan for one year as part of their degree under the Japanese Studies category.

Application forms and further information on prerequisites are available at the Japan Information and Culture Center Library in Pasay City or may be viewed and downloaded from the embassy website http://www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp/culture/scholarship/index.htm.

The deadline for submission of applications is on Feb. 2, 2018 at the JICC Library.
