Fare discount for students

MANILA, Philippines — Three Senate committees have approved a measure granting a 20-percent student discount in public transportation, including in-ride sharing services and air transportation.

The Senate committees on education, public services and ways and means endorsed for plenary approval Senate Bill 1597 or the proposed Student Fare Discount Act, which covers public utility buses, jeepneys, taxis, tricycles, shuttle services, public and private railways, transport network companies as well as domestic sea and air travel.

Students enrolled in basic, tertiary and technical-vocational institutions are also covered by the discount.
