The Philippine Star

LANAO DEL NORTE, Philippines - — In support to DepEd’s “Brigada Eskwela” program, the provincial government distributed building materials to 17 elementary schools and three high schools of the province.

The Brigada Eskwela is an annual project of DepEd to improve the learning environment of students. It is also known as the “National Schools Maintenance Week” as all stakeholders join together and assist in the enhancement of school facilities. On May 19 to 24, school teachers, administrators, parents and various organizations including the AFP and LGU personnel went to local schools and helped clean the classrooms, repainted school furniture and repaired defective doors and leaking roofs.

For its part, Lanao del Norte LGU provided the building materials to identified schools in the province which were personally delivered by personnel from the Provincial Community Affairs Office (PCAO) to each of the school principal.

Among the construction supplies delivered were roofing materials, plywood, plain sheets, roof sealants, and bags of cement.

In the case of Guillermo Abugan Sr. Elementary School (GAES), one of the recipient schools identified by the provincial LGU, the school received 15 bags of cement, 20 pieces of plywood, 10 pieces of plain sheets, 10 feet of corrugated galvanized iron and roof sealants.

“The faculty and staff of GAES, the parents and especially the pupils are very much thankful to Governor Khalid Dimaporo and Congresswoman Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo for their continued support to our school,” GAES Principal Rosalinda Tabanao said.

Other primary schools that received construction materials were Pantaon Primary School, Candis Elementary School, Princesa Elementary School, Maliwanag Elementary School, Linamon Central School, Matampay Elementary School, San Antonio Elementary School, Daugolaan Elementary School, Miguela Pogoy Memorial School, Feliza Bond Elementary School, Liangan East Elementary School, Sta.
