The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Nestle Philippines Inc. has turned green for its power requirements in its Batangas plant through a partnership with AboitizPower.

The Nestle manufacturing facility in Lipa, Batangas has switched to using clean energy from Aboitiz Power’s  MakBan Geothermal Power Plant since February.

“The partnership between AboitizPower and Nestle Philippines is a testament to the shared commitment of both companies to continually look for better and sustainable solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and protect the environment in a more sustainable manner,” Nestle Philippines technical director Peter Winter said.

AboitizPower president and COO Antonio Moraza said the company’s balanced mix portfolio guarantees consumers would have reliable, ample and reasonably priced power for their needs.

“With the portfolio that we have and our commitment to sustained growth, we believe that Nestle and all our other customers can be served well,” Moraza said.

Nestle Philippines and AboitizPower said both firms are striving to operate business responsibly and ensure their practices are environment-friendly.

AboitizPower and its partners have a net sellable capacity of more than 1,200 megawatts (MW) from its renewable energy portfolio of geothermal, hydro and solar power plants located all over the country.

It is continuously building up its renewable energy portfolio through ongoing projects like the 69-MW Manolo Fortich run-of-river hydro project in Bukidnon and the eight-MW Maris Canal hydro project in Isabela.
