Releasing pay for pensioners in Eastern Visayas starts

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development-8 reported that it has started in the payout of the social pensioners under its unconditional cash transfer (UCT) program in Eastern Visayas.

DSWD-8 Regional Director Restituto Macuto told The Freeman that the simultaneous pay-out to the UCT for social pensioners and the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) has started last July 21 and will end on Tuesday, July 31. 

Macuto, however, clarified that the deadline maybe extended due to the large number of beneficiaries availing of the grant.

Macuto said that each of the 4Ps beneficiaries will receive an additional P200 cash grant from the P2,400 monthly allotted for them for each month, and also the social pensioners beneficiaries will receive the same additional amount from the P500 take each month.

Records show that in Eastern Visayas there are 165,136 beneficiaries of 4Ps, while the social pension beneficiaries number 87,920.
