Gallares heirs: What happens to the lot?

After closure of Tagbilaran Airport

BOHOL, Philippines — What’s next to do for the authorities concerned after the closure of Tagbilaran City airport remains a big question, for now.

The New Bohol Airport in Panglao Island is about 87 percent finished and by next two months, if plans do not go haywire, it should start to operate.

But it depends on the Civil Aeronautics Authority of the Philippines, said Edgar Mangalili of the Japan Airport Consultants during the press briefing last week.

Reports said that city and provincial officials have already in their minds plans readied for the soon-to-be-vacant space of the city airport in Barangay Taloto in this city.

For the Gallares family, they inquired as to the plan for the use of the lots donated to the airport site after these are no longer used for that purpose.

On behalf of the heirs of Celestino Gallares, Sylvia Gallares pointed out her letter to Department of Interior and Local Government provincial director Loisella Lucino the following: “From the Provincial Board members regarding plans on the use of donated lots of the existing Tagbilaran airport, considering that the new airport is expected to be operational within the year.”

The Gallares Family also tried to inquire about the other donations they made in other places like in Carmen.

They want to know “From the Municipal council of Carmen to confirm that the area referred to in Villarcayo in the attached communication has been reverted back to the owner.”

Gallares concluded in her letter for DILG they hope the agency “will be able to assist in providing us with updates and official responses more promptly.”

Sylvia Gallares, as attorney-in-fact of the heirs of Celestino Gallares, former provincial governor of Bohol, is an authorized representative of the spouses Celestino M. Gallares and Julita B. Gallares and their children Edilberto, Adelina and Virginia, all deceased, by virtue of a joint special power of attorney executed among the Gallares heirs.

Lucino referred the said letter of inquiry to the Provincial Board to address the matter. (FREEMAN)
