In Pajo, Lapu-Lapu CITY Taking back 4Ps IDs creates a stir

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City have alleged their parent leaders have taken back their identification cards.

Some of the beneficiaries went to Junard “Ahong” Chan, who is running for barangay captain in Pajo, for advice.

Chan in a press conference told reporters he is afraid the administration backed candidate for barangay captain in Pajo will use the cards to win votes in the October 28 elections.

“Klaro ug tataw kaayo nga gamiton kini sa politika. Dili man sila (beneficiaries) makakubra sa ilang kuwarta kon wa tong ID,” Chan, accompanied by the complainants, said yesterday morning.

Since the 4P’s is a national program, Chan brought the complainants to the DSWD-7 to find out whether the agency ordered the collection of the IDs.

Chan said DSWD -7 director Mercedita Jabagat told him there was no such order.

But Melissa Remorosa of the 4P’s local government unit link clarified that no official has ordered the parent leaders to collect the ID’s.

It was just their initiative to repossess the cards so that they could make some corrections, she said.Remorosa said only the IDs of beneficiaries in Seat 3 in barangay Pajo were collected when it was discoverd their home addresses did not appear in the back of the IDs.

She said it is necessary to make the corrections otherwise the cards will not be honored. (FREEMAN)
