City treasurer of Talisay receives official ballots

CEBU, Philippines - Official ballots that will be used in this city this midterm elections have been delivered to the Talisay City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).

City treasurer Emma Macuto received Friday night a total of 128 packages containing official ballots, which will be distributed to all polling centers in the city. 

In an interview with The Freeman, Macuto said the official ballots will be stored in the People’s Social Hall. 

Macuto said the packages will be available for verification to party representatives, candidates, and official election watchdogs before May 13 elections.  

Macuto also said the personnel of the CTO will group the ballots for distribution to the respective polling centers and will be opened only on May 13 by election inspectors and teachers assigned to the polling precincts.

As per record of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in the city, there is reportedly an increase in the number of registered voters.

It said the total number of registered voters in the city for the May 2013 elections is 111, 696.

The present count increased by 17,540, compared to those listed for the May 2010 elections which had 94,156 registered voters.

City administrator Ritchel Bacaltos said the personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) will be stationed round the clock to safeguard the official ballots.  (FREEMAN)
