Cansaga Fiesta basketball tourney fires off

CEBU, Philippines —  The Barangay Cansaga Fiesta Basketball Tournament in Consolacion successfully kicked off with dozens of teams spread in five categories seeing action.

These are the mini (12 Under), midget (17 Under), SK/junior (21 Under), senior A (34-under), and senior B (35-above).

The mini, midget, and SK divisions will follow a single round robin format, with the top four advancing to the semifinal round. The top two teams will enjoy twice-to-beat advantage. The winners will clash in the best-of-three championship series.

On the other hand, the eight contenders in both senior A and B are divided into two groups. The top two per bracket will proceed to the crossover semis. The winners will then slug it out in the best-of-three finals.

Fully supported by Cansaga Brgy. Capt. Denmark Prame and SK chairperson Khatrecia Herrera, the five-week tournament is among the highlights of Cansaga’s annual fiesta celebration in honor of their beloved patroness Birhen sa Kalipay on May 1.
