Cebu FC falls short, ends up at 4th place

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu Football Club (CFC) Gentle Giants finished their campaign in the Copa Paulino Alcantara 2022 at fourth place after losing to Stallion Laguna FC, 2-1 in their battle for third ,late Sunday afternoon at the PFF Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

The loss spoiled the debut of one of Cebu’s prominent goalkeepers, Jack Zambrano, who took the position in between the goalposts for the first time since joining the club.

It was a heartbreaking end to a rousing start that saw the Gentle Giants go on four straight wins before figuring in a draw with eventual champions United City FC then bowing to Kaya FC in their their last elimination match.

The Gentle Giants thus will come home with another fourth place finish in just their second tournament and second year as Cebu’s first ever professional football club. — EBV
