SWU-Phinma mens advance to finals
CEBU, Philippines — The Southwestern University-Phinma spiker scored an upset victory over league-leader Team Mischka in an exciting five-setter to advance into the finals of the Mayor Edgardo Labella Volleyball Cup Open yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Institute.
SWU-Phinma men’s showed determination as they became more aggresive against Mischka that paved way for their 22-25, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 19-17, victory in the semis.
SWU halted Mischka’s five-game win streak, at the same time, improving its record to 2-3.
SWU-Phinma takes on Sports Yu in the finals. The latter punched a ticket to the championship round after a dominating 25-23, 25-22, 28-26, triumph over Fiesta People.
In the distaff side, Team Marias led by the reigning double UAAP MVP Cherry Ann “Sisi” Rondina blasted SWU Phinma,25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, in the semis. Team Marias lady spiker battle Harbor Pilot in the finals.
