UC fetes top athletes, coach in SEA Games

CEBU, Philippines — The University of Cebu led by its president Atty. Augusto Go gave recognition to their athletes bannered by 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games silver medallist Elreen Ando.

Go was pleased with their athletes’ achievements especially to Ando, who is a 2020 Tokyo Olympics hopeful in weightlifting.

Go handed P100,000 as cash incentive to Ando, a senior high school student. Aside from the financial reward, Go also assured full support in Ando’s Olympic bid.

UC also acknowledge Ando’s head coach Ramon Solis.

 Ando was thankful to Go and the rest of the UC officials that made her SEA Games stint possible including their chancellor Candice Gotianuy, athletic director Jessica Jawad-Honoridez, and all her teachers.

Aside from Ando, Go commended UC nursing student Pamella Jane Ruiz, who saw action in the mountainbike event of SEA Games. Even if she didn’t manage to get a podium finish, UC still showed their admiration to Ruiz for representing the country well.

Earlier, UC had a thanksgiving celebration for its athletes, coaches, and parents.

For Honoridez, everything they have achieved this year is a collective effort.

Honoridez gave credit to all the school officials for their all-out support to the athletes.
