CEBU, Philippines — Over 1,000 runners are expected to participate in the 11th edition of the ‘Pink Run’ slated on October 15 at the Terraces in Ayala Center Cebu.

Spearheaded by Philippine College of Surgeons Cebu Central-Eastern Visayas Chapter and Philippine Society of General Surgeons Cebu-Eastern Visays chapter, the running event aims to promote breast cancer awareness.

The race will feature 3-kilometer, 6K and 12K categories.

“When we started this running event, we thought that it good for only two years. We were surprised that we have reached 11 years. We credit this to the support we got from our partners and the community. We are happy that we make progress in making people aware about early detection,” said head organizer Dr. Peter Mancao during the press conference at the Casino Español yesterday.

The entry fee is pegged at P500 to all categories. One may register at the Think Pink Desk at the Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu.

The Pink run which is supported by the Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente and the I Can Serve Foundation is a nationwide event participated by fitness enthusiasts, medical practitioners and breast cancer survivors. Organizers also announced that 15 Binibining Cebu candidates will join the run. (FREEMAN)
