14th Thirsty Football Cup kicks off today

CEBU, Philippines - The 14th edition of the Thirsty Cup gets underway this afternoon at the Cebu City Sports Center with 256 squads joining the football event.

Aside from Cebu-based squads, the three-day tilt drew out-of-town entries from Manila, Dumaguete, Ilo-ilo City, Leyte,Tacloban, Ormoc City, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan De Oro, Samar, Oroquieta City and Bohol.

Don Bosco Technology Center hopes to duplicate their dominating performance last year. DBTC coach Glenn Ramos said that they are fielding in teams in almost all the categories.

The Bosconians have the most number of entries in the tournament with five in the under-11, three in the under-7, seven in the under-9, four in the under-15 and one in the under-19.

Ramos, who is also coaching the ERCO-BRO squad, will also be pitting two squads for the men’s open title, one in the mixed open division and one in the 38-above class.

Other categories to be contested are the under-13, girls 15, under-17 and the ladies open. (FREEMAN)
