USC marches into finals

CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Carlos broke the heart of University of San Jose-Recoletos, 2-1, in a ‘do-or-die’ match to advance to the finals in the tertiary division of the 2016 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. football event yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

UC will battle top seeded University of Southern Philippines Foundation in the finals scheduled on November 13 still at the CCSC.

Interestingly, USC last reigned in the CESAFI football on 2014 also against USPF.

Miguel Kwan logged the Warrior’s first goal in the 26th, followed by another goal from Paulo Saguin in the 37th.

During the second half, USJ-R coach Joselito Bono called the attention of his wards to play a more organize game. Christian Nacion responded to Bono’s direction as he connected a goal in the 46th.

However, the Warriors made an adjustment in defense and prevented the Jaguars from scoring another goal en route to getting the finals berth. (FREEMAN)
