Radaza asks police to prevent killings

CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza wants the city’s police force to do something to prevent the recent spate of shooting incidents involving riding-in-tandems.

In her press conference, Radaza said that even if the police officers were busy rendering their service during the elections, they still need to continue their designated task of keeping the city safe and orderly.

“Ipakita sad siguro kung unsay mga kalihukan sa police nga mawala ning ingon ani nga riding in tandem… I think they have to do something,” Radaza said.

Meanwhile, the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) is still conducting an investigation into the shooting incidents that happened in the city and they have yet to identify the suspects.

LCPO director Rex Lomente said the investigation is still ongoing to determine the probable motives in the spate of killings.

“It is early to say something on the findings relative to that considering the shooting transpired how many hours pa but we are investigating,” Lomente said.

As of now, the LCPO could not identify the conclusion of the issues or the findings of the investigation. — Verlie G. Laping, UV Journalism Intern (FREEMAN)
