New police units to handle crimes vs. persons, property

Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy city director for operations, said that the formation of these supporting units is a project of CCPO director Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog.

CEBU, Philippines — New police units that will assist investigators in the 11 police stations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) as supporting units focusing on crimes against persons and crimes against property will be officially launched today.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy city director for operations, said that the formation of these supporting units is a project of CCPO director Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog.

These units will have policemen who will focus on the most common crimes which are shooting incidents, thefts, and robberies.

The current situation in police stations is that policemen investing cases of shooting incidents, thefts, and robberies often get their attention diverted when they have to investigate cases of another nature.

“This is just a unit at the dispose of our city director who will immediately conduct or provide active support sa atong mga istasyon when there are cases nga especially crimes against persons and property, so under ni siya kay city director kay maoy nakita nga there were incidents that we could have solve it faster kung naa g’yuy nakatutok so mao ni siya to address that,” said Rafter.

Each supporting unit is made up of a team with seven police personnel who have graduated from an investigation course. — (FREEMAN)
