Rama praises city’s BHWs and BEOs

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama has acknowledged the role and hard work of the city's barangay health workers, as well as environment officers, and thanked them for their services.

During the Barangay Healthcare Workers (BHWs) Day celebration at the Cebu City Sports Institute gym in Brgy. Sawang Calero yesterday, Rama praised the BHWs for their dedication in providing quality health services to their respective barangays.

Rama, according to the City’s News and Information team, stressed to the BHWs how essential their work is in ensuring that their communities stay healthy.

Rama also recognized the BHWs' role in disseminating important health information and educating the community on various health issues.

Meanwhile, in a separate event, Rama also acknowledged barangay environment officers (BEO) and their crucial role in maintaining the city's cleanliness.

“Dako kaayo mo og tabang sa syudad. Kung wala mo, dili ma ingon-ani ang syudad,” said Rama during the BEO orientation seminar the other day at the Cebu City Hall Executive Building Community Hall.

Around 100 BEOs joined the seminar aimed to orient them on the various city ordinances and existing laws that would penalize those who indiscriminately throw their garbage, as well as policies and regulations on waste management and disposal, such as proper segregation of waste, collection schedules, and penalties for violators, among others.

Rama also reminded them of their role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the city and hopes for them to continue working hard and do their jobs properly.
