Over 70K CV voters listed in three weeks

CEBU, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Central Visayas has processed 70, 970 voters’ applications since the resumption of registration for the upcoming May 2025 elections.

Data showed that Cebu is the province with the highest number of registrants with 48,590 processed applications, followed by Negros Oriental (13,184), Bohol (7,600l) and Siquijor (1,596).

Majority of those who registered are women (35,683) than men (35,287).

During the third week since the resumption of the registration period last February 12, Comelec recorded 19,773 registrants, of which 2,124 were from Bohol; 13,366 from Cebu; 4,032 from Negros Oriental; and 251 from Siquijor.

The Comelec has initiated satellite registration in different parts of the region to gain more voters in next year's elections.

In Cebu, local Comelec offices have already set schedules for the satellite registration, which usually takes place at the different barangay halls, for the whole month of March.

The resumption of the registration will last until September 30 this year.

Registrants qualify if they are at least 18 years old on or before the May 12, 2025 elections. –/RHM (FREEMAN)
